Himesh Reshammiya and Atif Aslam to team up for Sur Kshetra

indefinitely. Now, after a year’s delay it’s back, with two General Entertainment Channels (GEC) Colors and Sahara One, tying up for a simulcast.

Raj Nayak, CEO of Colors, explains, “Sur Kshetra will mark Colors’ foray into the music genre. Music has the unique ability to unite people and now it has brought two channels together.” So, why tie up, instead of buying the show completely? He replies, “This is a big-scale show and its stature demands a wider platform.”
He also claims, “Between Sahara One and Colors, we will be able to cover almost 100 per cent of the GEC universe.” Suresh Mishra, assistant director worker, Sahara One seems to share a similar view, “This combined platform was needed to do justice to the show.” The telecast date remains undecided and the channels claim that want to schedule it before the festive season.
Sur Kshetra, which literally means ‘the musical battlefield’, is being produced by Gajendra Singh, and will see singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya heading the Indian side, while singer Atif Aslam helms the Pakistani team.

The judging panel will include legends like Asha Bhosle, Abida Parveen, and Runa Laila and will be anchored by actor Ayesha Takia. The show will also have episodes featuring stalwarts like Ghulam Ali, Hadiqa Kiani and Sajjad Ali from Pakistan, and Suresh Wadkar, Ismail Darbar and Alka Yagnik from India.
